Magna Carta
The Magna Carta limited the power of the Monarch.Nobles rebelled against King John ,he was forced to sign this agreement to limit his power qual treatment under the law and trial by ones peer .limited power of monarch so no one be above the power. -
mayflower Compact
the pilgrims realized they needed rules to govern themselves they drew up a plan for government .It then established a tradition of direct democracy .citizens held town meetings to address local problems and issues . -
funadamental orders of connecticut
Americas first written constitution this document called for an assembly of elected representative from each town to make laws .it also called for the popular election of govern and judges pilgrims were being persectued for religious belifs.they left massachussets and went to connecticut. -
Glorius revolution
parliment removed the king and bought in his daughter .it was a peacful transfer of power .who ruler would have more power then parliment no ruler would have more power than parliment president congress. -
English Bill of Rights
This document further restricted the monarch's power power .it also guaranteed free elections to parliaments ,the right to a fair trial and the elimination of cruel and unusual punishement. -
John Locke
An english writer who supported the Glorious Revolution .Locke argued that people were born free equal and in they all possessed rights called natural rights to life l could liberty and property that no government could take away. -
Baron de Montesquieu
Developed the ides about dividing the branches of government into different parts to balance each other he argued that the people alone had the right to determine how they should be govern. -

french philosopher wrote in the social contract (published in 1762 ) man is born free ,yet everywhere he is found in chains .he argued that people alone determine how they shall be governed
