  • World Wide Web

    World Wide Web
While working at CERN, Tim Berners-Lee noticed that it was difficult to share information. Tim created a proposal at CERN, which would ended up becoming the web. The proposal had initially failed. In addition to creating the web, Tim also developed HTML, URI, and HTTP. In 1991, the public was allowed to join the new web community. The world wide web has grown immensely since it's development. Many have lived in a world not know what it's like to live without it!
  • WIFI

    WIFI
In 1970 the University of Hawaii created the first wireless network. It allowed them to communicate to other Hawaii islands. It wasn't until 1991 when IEEE started to discuss the standardization of WLAN tech. In 2003, only few devices such as cellphones or laptops were using this technology. Today we can hardly see any device not using it. Without it, there is not as much ease when connecting to the internet.
  • Facebook

    Facebook
Mark Zuckerburg along with other classmates created facebook in their dorm room at Harvard University. Initially, it was only available to other Harvard students but as of 2006 any individual 13 or older with a valid email address may join. Facemash is the predecessor of facebook. It originally was a "hot or not" type of site that compared two people and the user was to select the hotter person. Social media has allowed many people to connect all over the world. It's hard to see what it cant do.
  • MacBook

    MacBook
The MacBook is Apple's replaced for their iBook series. It has been credited as the best selling Macintosh yet. The original was made of polycarbonate and came in two colors: white or black. This was my very first laptop. I was lucky enough for my mom to buy it for me. It opened up a new world for me. I was able to learn a lot about Apple products and became an "expert"... at least I thought I had!
  • iPhone

    iPhone
After the failure of the Newton MessagePad, the engineers at Apple were tasked to creating someone more. There the creation of the iPhone was born. Job's focus was to be a device that was able to synchronized with other Apple software such as iTunes. While I wasn't even allowed to have a phone while the iPhone was released, this has been the most used piece of technology I own. In this day and age, it's limited on what they CAN'T do.
