    While in Salvador, Brazil, Darwin begins making investigations among the rain forests of Salvador. Darwin is astonished by the beauty held inside the rain forests; he is amazed by the the vegetation, the grasses, and the beautiful flowers.

    Darwin is interested by the discovery of the fossil bones and is making observations of what the previous animals sizes were

    Captain Robert Fitzroy brings back three natives from his previous voyage back to England. Meanwhile, he tries to establish a Christian mission, however it fails terribly

    Falkland Islands

    Darwin discovers the infertile, "windswept" Falkland Islands; they are described by Darwin as being "desolate and wretched". He also discovers some brachiopod fossils, dinosaurs that once roamed Earth.

    Rio Negro, Argentina

    Darwin explores the Pampas, a fertile lowland area with the local people of Rio Negro known as "guachos". He is enjoying himself while exploring this foreign land.

    Chiloe Island, Chile

    Darwin witnesses the eruption of Mount Orsono while being on the island of Chiloe, and experiences the earthquake in the woods near Valdivia. After experiencing the earthquake, Darwin was affected significantly and was in shock of what took place on the island

    Galapagos Islands

    Darwin discovers multiple species of animals such as tortoises and birds, also plants that are distinctive to the Galapagos Islands, but they are surprisingly related tot he mainland. Darwin become so intrigued by the tortoises and their size and shape that he decides to get a ride from one of them. He also observes the marine iguanas and notices they are incredibly distinctive because they swim and feed in the ocean

    Once he arrived in Sydney, he congratulates himself; while in Australia, he observes the mammals there and wonders why they differ from other mammals outside of Australia

    Darwin begins studying the coral reefs growing around the islands to test his theory on atoll formation.

    Darwin makes observations by taking a walk along side the coast that is located north of the town; he observes the plains, making very specific observations on how they look

    The bullock wagons there in Cape Town peaks his interest; he then notices the Table Mountain and starts making observations on its location and height of the object

    While investigating the jungles of South America, Darwin discovers many creatures who inhabit these jungles. Unfortunately, Darwin is under the weather and he is both seasick and homesick; he becomes appalled when the Beagle makes an "unscheduled detour to make additional longitude measurements"

    Darwin finally returns home on the HMS Beagle, and he is very delighted to be home at last
