  • Basic Integration!

    Basic Integration!
Today I reviewed how to integrate sec(u)du. I made sure that ln(sec(u)+tan(u)) (absolute value of course) was positive, NOT negative. This had always been a weak point for me.
  • Differential Equations

    Differential Equations
Today I had to remind myself about how to apply Euler's Method to complicated differential equations. I determined that it is actually much simpler than I had thought before! Instead of making the problem into a huge chart, you can simply find dy/dx for the current point, multiply by delta x, and add the result to the current y value to get the new y-value.
  • Infinite Series

    Infinite Series
Today in class we reviewed infinite series. Fortunately, I remember how most of the tests for convergence for infinite series work. However, I definitely need to review the ratio test, considering that will be heavily tested on the AP exam.
  • Polar Equations TEST!!!!

    Polar Equations TEST!!!!
Today in class we had a test about polar equations. I feel as though I did well, and I felt confident about most of the content covered. It was exciting.
  • Taylor Polynomials

    Taylor Polynomials
THANK GOSH WE LOOKED AT THESE IN CLASS!!! Considering the fact that these have always been a weak point, I am sure that I will need to look at these about seventeen and a half more times before the exam. I reviewed how to multiply monomials (like 3x) by one on the transcendental infinite seiries (like e^x) in order to make life much simpler than taking many complicated derivatives.
  • Practice Test Part 1!!!

    Practice Test Part 1!!!
Today we completed the first part of a practice AP exam. Although I feel quite comfortable with the timing of the test itself and most of the content, there are definitely some topics that I need to review. Among these are infinite series and how they relate to integrals, how to find certain derivatives using Taylor Ploynomials, and improper integrals.
  • Practice Test Part 2!!!

    Practice Test Part 2!!!
Today in class we finished up our practice test, and Nathan and I worked very well together. It seemed to me as though there was a lot of material from calc AB on the practice test, including related rates and diffy q's. However, I felt comfortable retaining the information that we learned in the beginning of the year, such as integration by parts. Now I know that I can spend less time studying these things than more confusing topics, such as polar equations.
  • Law Day 2013! Infinite Series Review

Law Day 2013! Infinite Series Review
Today was Law Day and in terms of calculus, the main thing that I focused on was infinite series and the seemingly infinite number of tests used to solve for convergence. I understand most of them but I needed to pay careful attention to the limit comparison and direct comparison tests.
  • AP Review Worksheets

    AP Review Worksheets
Today I had the utmost joy of completing what I had missed over the past several weeks in terms of calculus worksheets. Quite frankly, I need to review my KYSC sheet! I was confused about things like L'Hopital's rule in integration and improper integrals.
  • AP Practice Test Review

    AP Practice Test Review
Today in class we looked over our practice exams. I feel great knowing that with little studying, I was able to score a 5 on the practice test. Hopefully now I will be able to perform under time constraints and without a partner on the multiple choice section.
  • AP Calc Test Review Day!!!

    AP Calc Test Review Day!!!
Today in class we visited many of the problems on the practice test that we as a class needed help with. Many problems gave me problems, for example, combining taking the natural log of both sides with l'Hopital's rule was not fun, so I'm happy to have looked over it, and to remember to take e to the both sides at the end to get my answer.
  • PRE GAME

    PRE GAME
Well, tomorrw's the big game! I feel confident that team Towson High School's Mr. Hyman's AP Calculus BC class will totally rock the College Board AP Calculus BC Big Game tomorrow! In all seriousness, I personally feel confident that I will do well tomorrow if I look over logistics and that as a whole, we can be the first class to get all 5's on the test tomorrow. Good luck to all of us!
  • CALCULUS SUPER BOWL!!!

    CALCULUS SUPER BOWL!!!
Today we got to show off our calculus skills on the biggest of our big games, the AP exam! I feel as though we all ROCKED the test, considering, compared to our vast knowledge of calculus, how easy the test was! I was surprised by the amount of AB questions were tested, I felt as though there were more AB questions than BC. In any case, I even feel confident in the parts of the test that involved Taylor Polynomials, and that's saying something!
