It is a technique in the arts that creates a glitch effect by messing and damaging video clips. -
Beginning
This technique started in the early 2000s when there were glitches seen in digital video codecs like DivX. This started making artists to become interested. -
First serious piece
In 2003, Owi Mahn and Laura Baginsky made the first artistic deployment in their video titled "Pastel Krompressor". This came around this technique after finding errors in their videos they had recorded. -
Shine to light
Artist Takeshi Muratas really brought this art to light by his movie in 2005 & 2006 called "Monster Movie". He combined clips from different movies to create hypnotic and hallucinogenic art piece. -
Furthermore
By 2009, many artists had experimented and tried this technique. It became more and more popular specially after Kanye West made his music video using it. -
Present day
This technique is not as common recently. But there are still artist that use it and it is specially used in animated shows.
