  • The XYZ Affair

    The French were angry at the Americans for remaining nutral in the feud between Britain and France so they started to attack American ships. So President Adams Sent Charles Pinckney, John Marshall and Elbridge Jerry to negotiate with the French. The French representatives demanded a bribe to stop. The three American Diplomats declined and the Americans wanted to go to war with the French.

  • Alien and Sedition Acts

    This act made it a crime to talk badly about the government and it made it even harder for a immigrant to become a US citizen.

  • Convention of 1800

    This convention formally ended the Revolution Alliance between France and the United States.

  • The Louisiana Purchase

    Jefferson wanted to buy the French territory in the Americas but the only thing they had to do to get it was to let the residents continue to be slave owners.
