DNA Timeline

  • Gregor Mendal

    Gregor Mendal
Gregor Mendal used 7 characteristics of pea plants: plant height, pod shape and pod color, and flower position and color. This experiment established many of the ruleds of heredity. He conducted an experiment where he bred a yellow pod and a green pod, the offspring always came out to be yellow. Mendal used the tearms dominant and ressesive to describe these traits.
  • biotechnology

    biotechnology
the use of living systems and organisms to make products. it often overlaps with the fields of bioengineering, biomedical engineering, and bio manufacturing.
  • Oswald Avery

    Oswald Avery
Avery's main eperiment isolated DNA as the material which genes and chromosomes are amde. There were techniques avalibe to remove organic componds from bacteria.
  • Rosalind Franklin

    Rosalind Franklin
worked on the X-ray diffraction images of DNAwhich led to the discovery of the double helix. Led pioneering work on the molecular structures of viruses.
  • Chargaff

    Chargaff
Chargaff discoverd two rules that hepled lead to the discovery of the double helix. The first rule is that guanine equals the number of cytosine. The second rule is that adeine equals the number of thymine.
  • Hershey & Chase

    Hershey & Chase
Hershey and Chase did an experiment that showed when bacteriophage which have DNA and protein infect bacteria, their DNA enters the host bacterial cell, but most of their protein does not.
  • James Watson

    James Watson
Helped discover the structure of DNA. Won Nobel prize in 1962 for Physiology or Medicine.
  • Francis crick

    Francis crick
Helped discover the structure of DNA along with James Watson. Also one Nobel Prize in 1962 for medicine or physiology.
  • First test tube baby

    First test tube baby
Louise Brown was the first test tube baby. On November 10, 1977 Louise Brown went under the procedure called in vitro fertilization witch means she was really created in a petri dish. Robert Edwards and Patrick Steptoe were the ones who created in vitro fertilization.
  • DNA profiling

    DNA profiling
DNA profiling can also be called DNA fingerprinting, DNA testing and DNA typing. It is a technique used to identify individuals by characteristics of their DNA. It is used for criminal investigation and parentage testing to identify a person at a crime scene.
  • Human genome project

     Human genome project
The human genome project is an international scientific research project trying to determine the chemical base pairs which make up human DNA. It is also identifying and mapping all of the genes of the human genome project from both physical and functional standpoints. Worlds largest collaborative biological project. The idea was evolved in 1984 but didn't launch until 1990. This project was completed in 2003
  • cloning

    cloning
cloning is a process where you produce similar things of genetically identical individuals that reproduce asexually. some examples of cloning are dolly the sheep.
  • Dolly the sheep

    Dolly the sheep
The first mammal created from an adult somatic cell. This happen by the process of nuclear transfer. The people who cloned dolly were sir Ian Wilbur and Keith Campbell. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolly_(sheep)
  • CRISPR

    CRISPR
CRISPR Stands for Clustered regularly-interspaced short palindromic repeats. Segments of prokaryotic DNA containing short repetitions of base sequences. Each is followed by short segments of spacer DNA that was previously exposed to a bacterial virus or plasmid.
