He moved with his grandmother and his aunt. It was then that he published his second book”AL AARAAF”. According to what Poe said, he wrote it when he was 15 but the critics said the poems were too complicated. -

There Edgar built his reputation as a fierce critic. -
When he was 27 the poet married his cousin Virginia and she was only 13 years old.

In 1840 Edgar joined George R. Graham at the Graham’s magazine.
During that year Poe worked on his first detective novel “THE MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE” recognized by the critics as the first modern detective story with a macabre tone in the crimes, in the story and in the characters too. -
In 1845 he published his first great horror story “THE RAVEN”

In 1847 his wife died of tuberculosis.
