These included ending gender roles and patriarchy, as well as understanding the concept of coming from different marginalized backgrounds apart from gender.     Global feminism grew to extreme popularity in the early 2010's when activist Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by a member of the Taliban on her way home from school in October 2012. After surviving the attempted assassination, Malala began to increase her advocacy in women's education and became the youngest ever to receive a nobel prize. Her activism helped reach millions of young women in similar situations and rang hope across the world.

    Due to the countless sacrifices and resilience of strong brave women of colour, third world feminism has evolved into the most common form of feminism in our society today. Known as traditional feminism, feminists are able to fight the more dire cases of injustices women living in third world countries experience. Those include, the lack of women in leadership positions, accessibility when it comes to schooling, and dangerous traditions like female genital mutilation and child marriages.
