    Magna Carta
    Signed between the barons of Medieval England and King John in 1215. It was to limit the Kings power.
  • Petiton of Right

    Petiton of Right
    Is a major English constitutional document that sets out specific liberties of the subject that the king is prohibited from infringing. Petition contains restrictions on non-Parliamentary taxation, forced billeting of soldiers, imprisonment without cause, and restricts the use of martial law.
  • English Bill of Rights

    English Bill of Rights
    It was a restatement in statutory form of the Declaration of Right. It lays down limits on the powers of the crown and sets out the rights of Parliament and rules for freedom of speech in Parliament, the requirement to regular elections to Parliament and the right to petition the monarch without fear of retribution.

    Also called the Alpany Plan. It was a proposal from Ben Franklin in 1754.

    England started putting high taxes on luxuray iteams. To get back at them the colonist stuck on Britsih ships and threw all the tea into the ocean.

    All colonies except Georgia sent delegates to the meeting. In result to the meeting, they set up the Intolerable Acts.

    Meeting where delegates from the 13 colonies met to discuss a new plan for freedom. They assigned 5 delegates to write the Declaration and Thomas Jefferson wrote the draft.

    Document that was adopted on July 4, 1776. It declared the colonies of America as free colonies. They would not be ruled by Great Britian anymore.

    Was an agreement among the 13 founding states that established the United States of America as a confederation of sovereign states and served as its first constitution. On March 4, 1789, the Articles were replaced with the U.S. Constitution.

    A desision that bigger states would out rule the little, so they created the senate. 2 representatives from each state would be in the senate.

    Uprising in central Massachusetts to attack courthouses or taking away farmers land. It was named after Daniel Shay who started this uprising.

    You can now vote at 18 years old. Voting should not be denied by age.
