CORE
CORE or also known as the Congress of Racial Equality was created in 1965. CORE's focus point was to desegerate public facilities. CORE took an non-violent approuch and continued to press for political & economical justice for African Americans. -

racial segergation of children in public schools. This violated the fourteenth admentment. Brown vs Board allowed school districts to let African Americans attend white schools. -
Rosa Parks
In Mongomery, Alabama on December 1, 1955 Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person. This lead to boycotting of the buses. Rosa Parks also ended up in jail. -
SCLC
SCLC is the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. In 1957, Martin Luther King was presisent. MLK was a major spokesperson for african americans. SCLC focused on fixing urban equality problems for afrivan americans. -

Idea began to end segergation at southern lunch counters. Blacks would often get food poured on them. Also many whites that didnt move when a black sat next to them would be treated the same. -
Freedom Rides
A group of 13, containing white civil rights activist and african americans started the freedom rides. The goal of the freedom rides was to put an end to segergation on interstate buses. September 1961, the Interstate Commerce Commission maderules against segergation in train and bus stations nationwide. -
The March on Washington
When Martin Luther King gave his "I have a dream" speech. This event attracted over 200,000 participants. This helped bring apon the civil rights act of 1964. -
Voting Rights Act
The Voting Rights Act banned the use of literacy test. It gave US general rights to investigate the use of poll taxes. This allowed africaan americans to vote with out restrictions of test and such. African Americans being able to vote changed election outcomes greatly.
