    Eric's first time swimming: Trust versus Mistrust
    Eric (age 6 Months) is taken swimming for the first time. As his father holds him and glides through the water there is sense of trust between the infant and the father, the water is a good place and should not be feared. In Erikson's first stage, trust versus mistrust, the crisis is the ability to develop a sense of trust in people and the world or to mistrust others and to look at the world as a scary place.

    Dressing Thyself: Autonomy versus shame and doubt
    Eric (age 3 years 3 months) was given the oppourtunity to pick his own clothes and put the outfit on himself exercising self-control and increasing independence. In Erikson's second stage, autonomy versus shame and doubt, the crisis, having the options to explore ones limits to build confidence and feel secure or to be criticized and over-controlled and may lack self-esteem or become overly dependent upon others.
  • Air Force Decision: identity versus identity confusion

    Air Force Decision: identity versus identity confusion
    Eric (age 18) joined the U.S Air Force to serve and protect his country, he made the decision that he wanted to be apart of an elite family and jump start his young career. In Erikson's fifth stage of identity versus identity confusion, the crisis is exploring what ones role will be in future society, and to re-examine his identity to find out who he or she is or pressuring somone into an identity and having them rebell creating a negative identity as well as unhappiness.
  • The Wedding: Intimacy versus isolation

    The Wedding: Intimacy versus isolation
    Eric (age 22) and Kairi marry one another because they did not want to experience life without their other half so combining their identites to make one. In Erikson's sixth stage, intimacy versus isolation, the crisis forming a sense of commitment, safety and care in a relationship or avoiding intimacy which could lead to loneliness and sometimes depression.
