Erik (age 49) feels satisfaction and accomplishment in his son's achievement. In Erikson's seventh stage, Generativity versus Stagnation, the crisis is to find some way to contribute to society and the next generation or become self absorbed with little involvement in the world.

Erik's Last Days: Ego Integrity versus Despair

Erik ( age 78) died while reminiscing with his three children knowing he spent his life well working hard as a educator and providing for his children both financially and emotionally. In Erikson’s eighth stage of ego integrity versus despair, the crisis is between looking back on life with closure and accepting death as inevitable or become dissatisfied with life and despair.
