  • Trust vs. Mistrust

    Trust vs. Mistrust
    John is an infant, his non-stop crying leads to his caring parents constantly checking on him to stop his crying. Whether it is a wet diaper, or hunger, John's crying leads to attention from his parents. Because of his parents' comforting and quick responses to his needs, John developed trust of his parents who are the caregivers, and a view of the world as a safe place. The child becomes more of a trusting person and a better view of the world, if his parents have a quick, caring relationship
  • Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt

    Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt
    John is now 3 years old, and has grown a strong sense of independence. When reading books with his parents, he stops them and says "No, I'll turn the page!" , or "I'll do it!" as a way to convey his self-reliance and how far his abilities have grown. The newly indpendent child, questions whether it is ok to have an identity, and explore new things.
  • Intamacy Vs. Isolation

    Intamacy Vs. Isolation
    John is now 28 years old. Although he has had relationships with women in the past, he is now looking for a relationship that is more comitted and is mutually satisfying between both partners. He wants an intimate relationship but not to the point where he loses his identity. The person learns whether they are capable of loving relationships, or are destined to be alone.
  • Generativity vs. Stagnation

    Generativity vs. Stagnation
    John is now 40 years old. He is married and has 2 kids. He has a stable well paying job, and uses his money to provide a comfortable home and life for his kids. He teaches his kids right from wrong, in hopes that they grow up to be responsible adults. He is proud with his accomplishments in life The person tries to make the most out of their life, by finding value in their work and relationships
