Erikson's Psychosocial Theory Events

  • Trust vs. Mistrust

    Trust vs. Mistrust
As an infant, Logan was constantly surrounded by her parents and siblings. She was very loved and never mistreated. She never had reason to not trust her parents of siblings. In Erickson's first stage of life, trust vs. mistrust, depending on whether or not the infant is well cared for or not they develop a sense of trust or mistrust with the world. If they are not well cared for they will begin to fear the world, whereas if they are well cared for they will begin to trust that no harm will come
  • Industry vs. Inferiority

    Industry vs. Inferiority
Logan is excelling at reading and writing at school. Her teachers take the time to explain things very clearly and help her whenever she has questions. Since Logan feels confident she is always eager to learn more. In Erikson's fourth stage, industry vs. inferiority, children begin learning basic skills and knowledge for success in the world. If they don't feel confident with these skills they begin to feel inferior.
  • Identity vs. Identity confusion

    Identity vs. Identity confusion
Logan attends highschool and she just broke up with her boyfriend. She liked hanging out with him but wasn't sexually attracted to him. She thinks that she might like girls but highschool is a really hard place to find yourself when you think you might be gay. Erikson's fifth stage is identity vs. identity confusion where adolescents must figure out who they are and where they fit into their culture. Logan is experiencing identity confusion.
  • Intimacy vs. Isolation

    Intimacy vs. Isolation
Logan just got back from spending a year traveling around the world by herself. While she was traveling she was able to really find out who she was and build on her identity. She is very nervous about getting into a serious relationship and is having commitment issues. This is Erikson's sixth stage, intimacy vs. isolation, where young adults must figure out if they are willing to put themselves out there andvallow another person to become part of them or if they want to stay alone.
