Leila gets awarded Student of the Month -- Industry vs. Inferiority
Leila (age 11) is top of her class therefore wins student of the month. This boosts her confidence in learning and achieving her goals. In Erikson's 4th stage of psychosocial development, Industry vs. Inferiority says with encouragement from parents/teachers the child will grow enthusiasm (industry). However, if the child struggles with learning &/or encouragement from peers, they will start to doubt themself and their abilities (inferiority).

Leila's Different Phases -- Identity vs. Identity Confusion
Leila (age 18) shows off her new hair-do, from dark brown to a platinum blonde. She is trying out a new style to figure out what she likes and what she identifies more with. Erikson's 5th psychosocial stage is about adolescents figuring out who they are, exploring the likes and dislikes of the world around them (identity). Those who are unable to try and express themselves in new/different ways result in (identity confusion).
  • Leila gets Married -- Intimacy vs. Isolation

Leila gets Married -- Intimacy vs. Isolation
Leila (age 24) and her fiance have been dating for 6 years and they finally get married and have two children. Erikson's 6th psychosocial development focuses sharing our intimate lives with another person. Her relationship with her partner has helped her form a trusted bond with another human where they both can be vulnerable (intimacy). Without intimacy (whether it be with friends, family or a romantic partner) it would lead to loneliness which can then lead to depression (isolation).
