    The United States needed a way to further advance them in the Nuclear Arms Race after the Soviet Union began to use atomic devices on the United States and other countries. The United States came up with something 1,000 times more powerful than any nuclear device, which was the Hydrogen Bomb, the world’s first thermonuclear device. The Hydrogen Bomb was used on Eniwetok atoll in the Pacific on November 1, 1952 and was just another fearful step taken by the United States in the Nuclear Arms Race.

The United States decided not to listen and on July 4, 1956 the first U-2 spy plane was sent off over Soviet Union airspace.
