Five Events Which Lead Up To the American Revolution

  • The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War
    The French and Indian ended leaving Britian with many expenses to pay.The British governent thought the colonists should help pay these expenses. The British decided to tax the colonists on certain goods.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    This act placed a tax on items such as newspapers and pamphlets. A stamp was put on these items to show the tax had been paid. This tax made many colonists mad. They did not want the British Government telling them what to do.
  • Quartering Act

    24 Mar 1765 An act that forced colonists to provide housing, food and clothing for British troops.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    While guarding Boston's Customs house Bristish soldiers were teased and had snowballs thrown at him by a mob of angry colonists. When shots were fired into the crowd five colonists were killed and six were wounded.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    A group of colonist disguised themselves as Mohawk Indians and boarded a ship in Boston Habor. While shouting "Boston Harbor will be a teapot tonight" they threw 342 chests of valuable tea into the habor.
