    This is important because the decleration gave us inpendence from King George the 3rd.

    parlament passes the suger act which raises taxes on items being shipped into the american colonies such as sugar, wine, coffee, dyes and cloth.
    This is important because the colonists became more united by opposing this act.

    This is important because it was found so offensive that specific references were made about it in the Declaration of Independence and the American Constitution.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act imposes a tax on paper goods like playing cards, newspapers, books and all legal documents are taxed as well.
    This is important because the Stamp Act was Parliament's first serious attempt to assert governmental authority over the colonies.
  • Townshend Act

    These taxes were created to help colonial officials become independent of the colonists by providing them with a source of income.
    Townshend Acts were met with resistance in the colonies, prompting the occupation of Boston by British troops in 1768, which eventually resulted in the Boston Massacre of 1770.

    When a young apprentice insulted a british soldier, he got angry and a mob began to form;Therefore, when they started fighting more troops came to end the chaos leaving 5 civilians dead. Boston, the capital of the Province of Massachusetts Bay and an important shipping town, was a major center of resistance to unpopular acts of taxation by the British Parliament.

    A group of colonists dressed up as Mohawk Indians and dumped hundreds of chests of British Tea into the Boston Harbor. The protest was known as the Boston Tea party. This was important becuase then Parliament passed the Intolerable Acts. I
  • Boston Port Act

    The Boston Port Act moved the capital to Salem and established Marblehead as the port of entry. Important because It also provided that the port of Boston would remain closed until the tea that had been dumped at the Boston Tea Party was paid for.
