    The Treaty of Paris
    In the year of 1763 the Treaty of Paris was signed by the French and the British. The Treaty stated that the French could not defend anymore of its North American possessions. This caused it to be hard to stop the British from taking the Native Americans land.

    Pontiac's War

    The Ottawa Indians had their land taken from them and wanted t take it back.The Ottawa Indians joined forces with the Native Americans from the Western area and Fought the British to get their land back. The war started in the year of 1763 in May and ended in the year of 1764 in September. In the end the Pontiacs war ended with the British winning and over 2000 backcountry settlers killed.

    The British had the Proclamation of 1763 because they wanted to stop any further wars with the Native Americans. The Proclamation angered many of the settlers. The Proclamation declared that any colonial settlement west of the line drawn along the Appalachian mountains had to move to a location east of that line. The Proclamation was widely ignored and was proven that it was impossible for the British to enforce it.

    In the year 1764 in April the Sugar Act was put out. The Sugar act stated that there would be taxes put on imported goods. This meant that any smugglers would be in severe trouble if they wee caught. One thing that had taxes put on it was Molasses.

    In the year of 1765 The Stamp Act was put out. The act stated that the people had to buy special stamps for specific products. This angered many of the people who lived in the area. The act was put on newspapers, wills, insurance policies, contracts, and any other documents. People eventually started to boycott the act and the act was changed. The act now only puts taxes on tea being shipped.

    In the year of 1770 there was a Maccacre.The Boston Maccacre started when there was a group of folk were surrounding a group of soileers and started throwing snow and rocks at the soldiers. The frightened soldiers had one fire and killed five and wounded six.

    In the year of 1773, the Tea Act was passed by Parliament. The Tea Act was to help the East India Company. The company had been growing tea for many years now. However when there was a boycott of tea it hurt the company very badly. The Tea Act actually lowered the price and tax of tea, but also gave the East India company over all control of the Tea.

    In 1773, the Sons of Liberty gathered together and formed a giant group of people. Then they dressed up like indians and forged out to one of the ships who had sailed to give tea.The people on the boat were threatened by the "indians". They started grabbing boxes of tea and throwing them overboard. In all they threw over 345 boxes of tea overboard and it was worth over 2000 dollars.

    In the year of 1774 the Boston tea party made the British angry. In response to the incident Parliament had then passed four laws. These laws were harsh to the colonists.1: The first closed the Port of Boston.2: The second increased the powers of the royal Governer.3: The third abolished the upper house of the Massachusetts Legislature.4: The last cut the powers of town meetings. Now anyone accused of murdering a colonial official could be tried in Britain, rather than in the colonies.

    The First Continential Congress
    In the year of 1774 the first Continential Congress was created. Twelve of the 13 colonies didn't send delegates. Even though Georgia din't send any representitives. Among the delegates were Samuel Adams, John Adams, George Washington, and Patrick Henry. The congress demanded the repeal of the intolerable acts and declared that the colonies had a right to tax and govern them selves. It also called for the training of militias to stand up against British troops if necessary.

  • Battle for Fort Ticonderoga

    In the year of 1775 on May 10th, there was a surprise attack on Fort Ticonderoga. There was a large group of colonists who were attacking. The fort stood on the southern end of Lake Champlain and protected the Canadian water route. The comander of the force was Ethan Allen, a blacksmith. Allens force of 83 men left at night and crossed the lake to get to the fort. Yet only 42 British troops guarded the fort and then almost surrendered immediately.

    In the Year of 1775 the congress came back together in Philadelphia. The delagates for this time were Thomas Jefferson, a young lawyer from Virginia; John Hancock, and Benjamin Franklin. The congress, at first, was divided about what to do. A group of delegates from New England wanted to declare independence. A more moderate group from the middle colonies favored less drastic action. However nearly all delegates felt that they needed to prep for war.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    In the year 1775 the Olive Branch Petition was sent to the King. The petition has stated that the colonists were good to the king. When the King reseved the petition he refused to take any attention to it. The congress had done this hoping to restore peace between Britain and America. The petition got its name from the someone Olive Branch which stands for peace.
  • Battles of Bunker and Breeds Hill

    In the year of 1775 George Washington placed large canons on a hill over looking Boston. The British could no longer defend the city. On March 17 of 1776 they withdrew from Boston and never returned.
  • Invasion of Quebec

    In late December of 1775 the Americans attacked Quebec during a severe snow storm. The attack was turned back. Montgomery was killed and Arnold was wounded. The British stayed outside of Quebec until May of 1776.

    On March 17, 1776 the British withdrew from Boston. They did so because when Boston was surrounded by American forces the British could not fight anymore. The Americans only had 83 troops and the British had 42. Therefore causing the Americans to win the battle.
