EVENTS LEADING TO THE REVOLUTON

  • End of french and indian war

    The british had a huge war dept so they looked to the colonies to pay it off. Many wanted colonist independence.
  • proclomation of 1763

    Restriced colonists from moving any further west. This was widely ignored.
  • Sugar Act

    Put a tax on sugar and gave harsh punishment and trail in england to smugglers. Many goods were boycotted.
  • Stamp Act

    Had to buy a stamp for ANY ducument. The colonists burened stamps.
  • Quertering Act

    Required colonists to house soldiers. Many patriots locked them out.
  • Townsend Act

    British would not tax goods in the colonies it allowed Britsh soldiers to search ships with out a warrant. Some started to smuggle goods into the colonies.
  • Bsoton Massacre

    A Britsh soldier shoots into a riot of patroits, 5 people died. Many people didn't like that.
  • Tea Act

    Helped the almost bankrupt British East India Company get a monopoly on tea, and made a 3 pence tax on tea. The sons of liberty organized the Boston tea party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    sons of liberty dumped tea into the harbor dressed as indians. This motivated the patriots to contiue fighting for ther freedom.
  • Coercive/Intolarable Acts

    The British closed the port of Boston until the tea was paid for. It also moved trails to england banned moving west and strethend the Quartering act of 1765. The colonists protested this.
  • Paul Revere's ride

    On the night of April 18, 1775, a man by the name of Paul Revere the country side to Lexington and Concord Massachusetts warning them that the British troops were coming. The patroits reacted by preparing for battle.
  • Lexington and Concord

    On the morning of Arpil 19 1775, many British troops were heading tworads Lexington and Concord to sieze ammuniton, muskets, and cannons. When the troops got to Lexington the milita was in fireing position. The Britsh and patriot milita stood in there ranks. Suddenly a shot rang out. to this day no one knows who shot first. the patriots knew that freedom would be theirs.
