The tea tax was literally taxing tea, The British government passed a tax on tea, which aggravated the patriots and was one of the major parts of their rebellion. This also later lead to the Boston Tea Party and the Boston Tea party took place on December 16, 1773, The patriots dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor. -

The Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was the colonies standing up for themselves and starting to fight back. Once they declared independence from Great Britain they were able to pass their own law and have their own governments but it all came with a cost, a huge war called the American Revolution war.
