    The beginning

    The beginning
    Chaos was the beggining of everything, Gaia was Mother Earth. In the stories where Gaia was the first living thing, she gave birth to Uranus without having had a partner. Gaia and Uranus became husband and wife and became the parents of the Titan Gods and Goddesses.

    The titans

    The titans
    There were 12 Titans total six female and six male. They were all married to each other. The Titans were: Oceanus, Tethys, Hyperion, Theia, Crius, Mnemosyne, Coeus, Phoepe, Cronus, and Rhea. Cronus and Rhea were the parents of many of the Olympians. Cronus was told that his children would be stronger than him. So instead of letting them grow, he ate them. Rhea tricked Cronus in order to save Zeus. When Zeus grew up, he saved his siblings and killed his father, making him the new god of Gods.

    Olympian gods

    Olympian gods
    After the Titan Wars, they moved to the top of Mount Olympus where they were able to rule and see the mortals in their daily lives. The twelve Olympians were Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Hermes, Hestia, and Dionysius. Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, and Hestia were sons of Cronus and Rhea. The prophecy came true. Hades was also the brother of Poseidon and Zeus but he wasn’t one of the Olympians. He became King of the Underworld.

    Other gods
    Aside from these major gods and goddesses, there were other little things that were mentioned in Greek myths. Hecate, the goddess of witches, Iris, the goddess of rainbows, and Nike, the goddess of victory. They weren’t as Important as the Olympians. The Ancient Greeks were polytheistic, they Believed in multiple gods and goddesses.
