Vikings

The Vikings were people who livd in Northern Euroupe, Sweeden, Denmark, and Norway, They sailed west to build settlments in Northern Canada, Greenland. They were the first known Europeans to set foot on North America. They wrote the Greenlander's Saga to describe their travels.

Vinland

Leif Eriksson and the Vikings discovered Vinland. Vinland is an island on the coast of Canada. It's an island that was covered by vines. Lief Eriksson called it "Vine Land". Later, it was shortened to Vinland. It was the base for the Vikings in the winter to fish and hunt. It's the place where many Viking saga's occured.

Marco Polo

Marco Polo was an Italian explorer. He traveled to Asia, Alexandria, Constantinople, Damscus, and Bagdad. He discovered many new cities and told people about it. He even wrote a book about China.

Vasco de Gama was a Portugal Explorer. He found a sea rout to Asia. He sailed all the way to India and back. He came back to Euroupe with spices and goods. Vasco de Gama was a very daring man.

Amerigo Vespucci

Amerigo Vespucci was an European explorer from the Italian city-state, Florence. He didn't believe that Giovanni Caboto had found Cathay. He found out that the place where Giovanni Caboto landed was not Cathay. He found that Columbas also didn't really reach Asia.

Vasco Nunez De Balboa was a Spanish solider. He claimed the Pacific Ocean for Spain. He was the first European to pass through the Ithmus of Panama and to reach the west coast of the Americas. He found the Pacific Ocean and proved Vespucci corrict and Columbas wrong.
