Fashion 1900's-1990's

  • 1900's

    1900's
The 1900's saw the introduction of the bustle, and that informed the entirety of their look. The hair was big and ostentatious and the hats were even more so, often made with real taxidermy.
  • 1910's

    1910's
When the 1910's came to pass, the bustle was phased out of the trendy clothing of the time. The dresses got less poofy, more silky in material. The ridiculous hats did stay, though taxidermy wasn't as common.
  • 1920's

    1920's
The 1920's was the time of indulgence and luxury, and the fashion reflected such. The dresses were normally loose and much more revealing than the previous era. Makeup became more prominent, with dark neutral toned lips were commonplace.
  • 1930's

    1930's
With the Great Depression beginning, clothing got more conservative compared to the previous decade. However, it often was more breathable and lightweight fabric and designs.
  • 1940's

    1940's
Blazers became a staple of this decade, often business sort of wear as women began to gain some independence.
  • 1950's

    1950's
The 1950's were full of fluffy a-line skirts, and modest blouses as well as mary jane style shoes. Hair was often shoulder length and curled.
  • 1960's-1970's

    1960's-1970's
These two eras had very similar clothing styles, mostly revolving around the hippie movement that rose up around this time. Dresses were often colorful and patterned, and bellbottom jeans were all the rage. Hair was often bumped up and tall, curled at the ends.
  • 1980's

    1980's
1980's love of color and pattern carried over from the 60's-70's, though the patterns were even brighter and geometric. Shoulder pads were often worn by older women or women involved in business. Hair was often teased to a fluffy, tall mass.
  • 1990's

    1990's
The 90's was a time of crop tops and more revealing clothing. It is often layered, though said layers are often obviously thin. Makeup was often intentionally messy, and a dark lipstick or lip liner was a favorite of the time.
