  • Period: 230,000 BCE to 4000 BCE

    Prehistory

    At that time, the garments were animal skins that counted for for protection in hunting, to display power and bravery. For greater malleability of the clothes, they chewed them, which allowed to cover a bigger part of the body.

    Stone Age / Neolithic Age

    In the Stone Age / Neolithic Age began to the manufacture of wires, animal skins, used as clothes, were now tied with vegetable fibers or guts and bones used as needles. The first distinction between beautiful and ugly and the first cotton clothes emerged.

    Ancient Age

    In Ancient Age, the Egyptians used to make well-shaped and well cut to highlight the beauty of the body. In Greece and Rome, there was a greater concern with the precision and detail of the garments. In addition, the rich and poor began to distinguish themselves by their 'dress'. The men wore tissues that covered their intimate parts while the women walked with a tissue arrested in the trunk with exposed breasts.

    In the Industrial Revolution, Jeans clothes began to appear, which eventually marked that era. They were mostly used by workers, miners, and cowboys.

    Modern Age

    During the Modern Age, skirts, worn in various lengths and men's suits, went into fashion. Clothes still distinguished the rich from the poor, the richer wore luxurious clothes with embroidery and details, while the poor, simple tissue clothes. Silk, satin, linen, wool and cotton garments were in evidence due to the Great Navigations.

    With the end of World War II, there was a improvement of women's clothing due to the expansion of textile production. Hats, heels and gloves were elegant accessories in this era. Synthetic fabric, sportswear and, what is more, marked the time, men's leather jackets and rolled tufts. Clothes were more than just a dress, it was expression and art.

    The 60's was influenced by rock'n'roll and has as main milestones the miniskirts, 'pantyhose', bikinis, accessories, light lipsticks and wigs. The men's fashion is marked by jackets, boots, rings and bracelets.

    In the 70's, the Hippie style is the main milestone, it carried with it 'overalls, flared trousers and romantic dresses, clothing was used to express desires, dreams and rebelliousness.

    80's

    In the 80s, suspenders and colored ties (influenced by the yuppie style) were very common. Clothing with bright colors and fluorescent colors was widely used along with leggings, lycra pieces and bandanas, not to mention the famous colorful jackets full of zippers of Michael Jackson.

    In the 90's, there was a re-reading of the 70's and 60's. Light colors and platforms became fashion again, along with outflows of beach, yoke, slippers and sunglasses. This has shown that the diversity of styles can coexist harmoniously well.

    Today fashion has no definite style, 'trends' change every moment and we appeal to the diversity of clothing, but still believe that the harmony between colors and styles are something relevant.
