  • 1890's Depression

    In the 1890's many people were losing their jobs. Immigration came to a halt, banks closed and most people suffered from lack of money to buy food and shelter. The politicians thought this too important to think about Federation then.
  • First Meeting of the National Australasian Convention

    The first meeting of the National Australasian Convention took place in Adelaide. All colonies came except for Queensland and they worked towards making a Federal Constitution. This took place in 1897 from the 22nd of March - 23rd of April.

    The last meeting of the Federal Council took place in 1899 from the 24th of January - 27th of January.
  • Queen Victoria

    Queen Victoria announced that the six colonies would become a nation on the 1st of January 1901.
