    At 4 weeks the baby is about the size of a poppy seed. All of the organs will begin to develop such as heart, digestive system, backbone and spinal cord.

    At 8 weeks, the fetus is about 1 to 2 inches. The eyes, nose, lips, tongue, ears and teeth are fbeginning to form. The heart is now fuctioning.
  • Month 3

    At 12 weeks, the fetus is 2-3 inches long. Nails and earlobes are forming. Arms, hands, fingers, legs, feet and toes are fully formed. A heart rate can be heard.
  • Month 4

    At 16 weeks, the fetus is 6-7 inches long. Fingers are well developed. You can identify the sex. Sweat glands are forming.
  • Month 5

    At 20 weeks, the fetus is about 8-10 inches and weighs a pound. Hair begins to grow on his/her head. The mother can now feel fetal movement. Eyebrows, eyelids and eyelashes appear.
  • Month 6

    At 24 weeks, the fetus is 11-14 inches long. The baby weighs up to 2 pounds. Eyes begin to open occasionally. Fetus is able to hiccup.
  • Month 7

    At 28 weeks, the fetus is about 2-3 pounds. He/she is about 14-16 inches long. Taste buds have developed and organs are maturing.
  • Month 8

    At 32 weeks, the fetus is 16-18 inches long. The baby weighs about 4-6 pounds. Brain growth occurs at this time. Kicks are visable from the outside the womb.
  • Month 9

    At 36 weeks, the fetus is 19-20 inches. He/she weighs 7-8 pounds. Baby is fully developed. The baby starts to settle down lower in the abdomen.
