    Prince Henry the Navigator

    he was neither a sailor nor a navigator but he sponsered a great deal of explorations along Africa. Portugese crew found the countries first colonies and visited regions unknown to Europeans.

    Ming Dynasty and exploration

    The Ming Dynasty was the ruling dynasty of China. The Chinese gained influence over Turkestan. The explorations which were conducted under the Yongle Emperor were ended because they didn't profit anybody but him.

    Ferdinand Magellan

    Ferdinand Magellan sets sail from Spain in an effort to find a western sea route to the rich Spice Islands of Indonesia. Magellan sailed to West Africa and then to Brazil, where he searched the South American coast for a strait that would take him to the Pacific. he finally discovered the strait and became the Straight of Magellan.
