  • War of 1812

    War of 1812
the war between the US and Great Britain over " British violations of U.S. maritime rights. The Us was overconfident in their ability to win the war with Britain. You would ultimately call this Reckless sense of foreign policy. Although this was a huge turning point for Native Americans and Canadians in order to govern themselves it was seen as a minor conflict in the US. Yes, the War was a successful "second war" for America and led them to view war as a "nation-building experience".
  • Monroe Doctrine

    Monroe Doctrine
A time when the Americans were no longer open to colonization but Britain wanted to close the Western Hemisphere because of how cheap the prize for goods would be. This didn't get approved by the US because they wanted to be the "top dog" in the western hemisphere. They called this a Growing change of US potential, the Monroe doctrine still affects us to this day because it was the point when the US acted as an "international police force in the Americas".
  • Mexican American War

    Mexican American War
Mexico denied the US offer to buy land and declared war against the US. The only reason the United States even wanted the land was that it gave them a chance to expand their territory, this is what we call Exclusively Expansionism. When Mexico made this decision it left the US with no other choice "for defending its national security and interest". Which led president Polk to blame them for causing the war. Americans supported the war while politics thought it was unjustified and avoidable.
  • The trent Affair

    The trent Affair
Altimatly people of the north wanting war against Britain for helping the South (by sending the "trent"). This was also around the time the civil war took place so the US couldn't really engage in another war. The Trent affair showed a "union resolve to keep foreign influences out of the war".The reason Britain supported the south in the first place was because of the economic interest.
  • Spanish American War

    Spanish American War
The conflict between the US and Spain resulting in ending Spanish colonial "rule in the Americas".U.S victory in war made Spain loos claims to Guam, Puerto Rico, etc. This allowed America to has a colonial power and spread their "way of living to other places".In my opinion, the US was forced to go into war because of yellow journalism (used to influence the war) although the US later used that as an excuse to expand and grow.
  • Annexation of hawaii

    Annexation of hawaii
The US wanted to make business in Hawaii stronger by making them a part of the US, Native people were against but the US took Hawaii by force anyway. There were different views on the idea some said that there wasn't liberty and equality while some argued that values have changed. All this being Redefeding our core values. Hawaii lost its culture since it gained more foreigners than native Hawaiians while the US gained the military advantage and economic "enrichment",
  • Period: to

    World War I

Known as the Great War began after the murder of Archduke France causing more than 16 million deaths. This war had a big advance in technology changing the way people traveled and communicated take France for example when the war began they only had 140 aircraft and by the end of it they used around 4,500. The US didn't join the War till 1917 "on the side of the allied powers" (France, Russia, and the United Kingdom).
  • Panama Canal

    Panama Canal
A Waterway that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Banu-vanilla negotiated the "Hay-Bunau-Varilla Treaty" giving t.he Us a 10-mile wide "strip of land for the canal" having the US to guarantee independence to Panama. This was a long term goal president Theodore Roosevelt had for the US in order to ship goods easier and cheaply. President Theodore described his foreign policy as "the exercise of intelligent forethought and of decisive action sufficiently far in advance of any crisis".
