We're introduced to the characters of the story who are Max and Kevin. We learn the two characters have a learning disability and a physical disablility. -

CH 2
Freak moves back into town. He meets Max and calls him an earthling and attacks him with a crutch -
CH 3
Max has Kevin come over, and they start talking-becoming friends. Max learns about Kevin and how smart he actually is. -
CH 4
Freak comes over and tells him alot of information about his mother 'The Fair Guenevere". Max learns why freaks calls Gwen that. He learns it comes from a King Arthur story about the sword. -
CH 5
Max eats over at Kevins house after Gwen feels bad about running away from him. He learns that Gwen was actually good friends with Max's mother. Gwen remembers that Max and Kevin went to the same daycare together. -
CH 6
Max and Kevin watch the 4th of July fireworks together down by a pond. -
CH 7
Tony D shows up to the 4th of July fireworks show. They try starting gang fights with Max and Kevin because they are obviously different from eachother. They get chased onto a pond and get stuck. -
CH 8
Gram and Grim become real worried about Max after the incident at the pond. He finally has his first cup of coffee with Grim. Freak makes Max look up words in the dictionary to help him better understanding of what he says. -
CH 9
Max and Kevin take a walk outside. Kevin shows him to a building where he is to believe he'll get a bionic body for human modification from after a lot of surgery and work. He makes max promise not to tell anyone about his secret. -
CH 10
Freak wants to hunt for treasure down in the storm drain. they sneak out at 3am to go down under. The treasure they find is a purse which belongs to a woman named Lorretta Lee.
