  • Land Lotteries

    Quality of soil is good or bad depending on the lot. Fun Fact: Gov. John Milledge called the legislature into a session to pass a new land policy. All new land was to be measured into lots of 202 1/2 acres or 490 acres if land is not as fertile.
  • Cotton Gin

    The invention of the cotton gin led to a massive growth in the U.S. cotton industry. Fun Fact: After the invention of the cotton gin the tobacco production decreased as more planters turned to cotton.
  • Dahlonega Gold Rush

  • Baptists and Methodist Churches

    People all around started building churches to praise in whom they believed in (ex:God) Ga was a religiously diverse state. Fun Fact: Late 1830 Methodists established what was later called the Wesleyan College for girls and Emory for boys. Baptists had founded Mercer College, and Presbyterians had started Oglethorpe College.

    The railroads was built to transport cotton and types of resources. Fun Fact: As the railroads increased so did Atlanta, which had became an important railroad center by the start of Civil War.
