    Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India on 2 October 1869. HIs father being Karamchand Gandhi and his mother being Putlibai Gandi, Karamchand's fourth wife.

    Gandhi joined Kasturba, age 12, in an arranged marriage created by their parents and had 4 sons.

    After studying in London Gandhi practiced law in South Africa, but was abused when claiming for the rights he had as a British subject and realized all Indians suffered similar treatment.

    Return to India and Raise to Power

    Gandhi returned to Inida and within 15 years became the leader of the Indian Nationalist Movement. He was imprisoned for seven years total for protesting.He even fasted multiple times to show others the importance of being nonviolent.
  • India Gains Independence

    India was given independence and was partitioned into India and Pakistan. Rioting between Hindus and Muslims followed.
  • Gandhi Fasts

    Gandhi fasts in hopes of stopping the riots, due to himself wantin gth Hindus and Muslims to be able to live together in peace. Within 5 days the leaders vowed to stop the fighting and Gandhi stopped the fast.
  • Gandhi's Death

    Gandhi was assassinated by Madanlal Pahwa, Shankar Kistaiya, Digambar Badge, Vishnu Karkare, Gopal Godse, Nathuram Godse, and Narayan Apte in Birla Bhavan, Delhi.
