  • Birth

    Mahatma Gandhi (originally Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi) was born in Porbander, India.
  • Marriage

    At some point in the May of 1883, Gandhi married Kasturba. She also was an activist fighting for civil rights.
  • Gandhi's Father Dies

    Not much is known about the exact date of Gandhi's father's death. However, we do know that it happened sometime in 1885.
  • Gandhi Goes To England

    Gandhi went to England to study law. The place in which he took this trip to was Southampton.
  • Gandhi Accepts A Contract To Work In South Africa

    At some point in April, Gandhi accepted a contract to do legal work in South Africa. However, he soon noticed that he and many of the other Indians there were being treated unfairly.
  • Gandhi Stays In South Africa

    Gandhi stayed in South Africa for many years. In said years he spent time fighting for the rights of Indians there. He even created a method of social action called Satyagraha. Afterwards he returned back to India sometime in 1901.
  • Gandhi Arrested For Not Cooperating

    From January to October of 1908, Gandhi was arrested twice for not cooperating with the British rules that were created.
  • Amritsar Massacre

    This was a massacre in which troops of the British Indian Army shot at, and killed, several nonviolent Indian protesters. This really made Gandhi want to push for the advancement of India.

    Gandhi makes several people stop cooperating with the British all throughout India.

  • Gandhi Creates And Publishes The Declaration Of Independence Of India.

  • Gandhi Starts The Salt March

  • Gandhi Once Again Gets Arrested

    This time, Gandhi gets arrested for breaking the Salt Laws.
  • Gandhi's Wife Kasturba Dies

  • India Officially Becomes Independent

  • Gandhi Is Assassinated

    Gandhi was killed by Nathuram Godse, who decided that Gandhi was the reason why India was breaking into different parts.
