  • Stolen Generation

    The Stolen Generation was occuring between 1900 and 1980

  • End of WW2

    End of World War 2 and the return of Australian soldiers. Bob Moore and Loretta Prendergast were born.

  • Generation B (Baby Boomers)

    Generation B were the people born between 1946 and 1964. The total births per year during that period grew from 2.3 million to 4.3 million. These people are called the Baby Boomers because between '46 and '64 there was a massive reproductive era where millions of children were born.   • Working-class children

    Between 1947 and 1953 about 3000 working-class children from the United Kingdom were sent to Australia.

  • Rock n Roll

    Rock n Roll was first introduced in 1951.

  • Rock 'n' Roll

    Rock 'n' roll was introduced along with Bodgies and Widgies during the 1950s.

  • Rebellion Begins

    Responding to cultural change and rejecting restrictions. Geoff and Pollu Stirling were born in the early 1940s.

  • Television

    Television first debuted on the TCN The Communications Network, Sydney where Bruce Gyngell announced "Good evening and welcome to television"

  • Marriage & Families

    Marriage in Australia was expected as was having a family and children.

  • Contraceptive Pill

    The Contraceptive Pill was first introduced and marketed during the mid 1960s.

  • Racism

    Aboriginals were allowed to vote in other states other than Queensland.

  • Generation X

    Generation X were the people born between 1964 and mid to late 70's. At the time, Grunge music was quite popular.     Civil Rights Act was brought in.
    - Black people had to go to a Black school and had to drink from a Black person bubbler and had to eat with the other Black people.

    • The people of any race, other than the aboriginal people in any State, for whom it is neccessary to make special laws.
    • In reckoning of the people of the Commonwealth, or of the State or of the other part of the Commonwealth, aboriginal natives should not be included.

  • Aboriginals

    In late 1967, Aboriginals became citizens and not classified as Flora or Fauna.

    Shirley Chisholm was the first non-white woman elected into the US House of Representatives.

  • Vietnam War

    Vietnam war began in 1965 and ended in 1972. Many Australians & Americans were unsatisfied with the conscription & against the War because it has nothing to do with Australia.

    Women Discrimination facts:
    1. Women weren't getting equal pay for equal work
    2. Women couldn't make decisions about their bodies; the husband did
    3. Women couldn't work in "men-designated" areas
    4. Women were sexually harassed by superior males
    5. Discrimination in education. Women couldn'y get in University
    6. Banks didn't loan to women who were single.

  • Sexism & Feminism

    Prime Minister Gough Whitlam brought about and funded:
    - funding to womens' health
    - childcare centres
    - childcare workers

  • Generation Y

    Generation Y were the people born between 1982 and 2000. Of the world, 5.15 million of the worlds population are born in Generation Y. Gen Y members are more likely to decide with the influence of peers rather then by themselves.

  • Migration

    Around this time, 2 million migrants from South East Asia settle in Australia.

  • Generation Z

    Generation Z were born from the year 1994 to 2010 Generation Z take up 1% of the world's population. Most of the Gen Z people are the children of Gen X.
