    Munich Agreement
    The French Premier, Edouard Daladier, and the British Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain, signed the Munich Agreement. They did this to avoid war. This agreement basically signed Sudetenland over to Germany. This was a trick because Hitler promised that this was his last demand as far as territory goes.

    The German troops marched into Austria. Germany announced their "union” with Austria, which was more of Germany taking control. The other countries did nothing about this situation.

He thought that this was very dishonorable and that it was not a good decision. This proved true soon after. German troops invaded Czechoslovakia.     Hitler said the Germans in Poland were being mistreated and he needed to protect them. Everyone took his threat lightly. Nobody thought he would invade Poland because they had allies such as the Soviet Union, France, and Britain.The leader of the Soviet Union, Stalin, signed a nonaggression pact with Hitler. So if or when Germany invaded Poland they knew that the Soviet Union would be on his side.

    Germany and Russia vowed to never attack each other.This made Germany feel better about invaded Poland because they would not have to deal with fighting a two-front war. That type of war is what exhausted their efforts during World War I. They also signed a second pact that divided Poland between the two countries. This was in secret.

    Germany air force dropped bombs on military bases, railroads, aircrafts, and cities in Poland.Germany, also, sent in tanks. The citzens were all confused and petrified. This was their new tatic called lightning war. They wanted to take everyone by surprised with fast tanks and powerful aircrafts in order to quickly defeat anyone who opposed them. Two days later Britian and France declared war on Germany.

    Hitler surrendered to France. Germans would occupy the northern part of France. A French general, Charles de Gaulle fled the country, where he set up a government in England.

    Invasion by Air and Sea
    Germany prepares to invade the French coast. Germany launched in air as well in the water. Hitler knew that the British naval force was strong and had the potential to defeat him so he decided to attack by air, also. The German air forces started dropping bombs around the same time that the naval force started to make their way up the coast. Their goal waa to defeat Britian's Royal Air Force (RAF).

    Britan's Royal Air Force did a good job of protecting the country. They used a new concept called radar, which helped to detect the opposing planes and their possible paths. On this day, they shot down over 185 German planes. Meanwhile, they only lost six. They both countined to bomb each other, not caring about civilians in the opposing country.
