  • King of Prussia: Proclamation of 1849

    The King said that he can't return a favorable reply to the offer of the crown on "the part of the German National Assembly" becuase he doesnt believe that the assembly has the right.
  • Letter to Minister Von Manteuffel

    Germany is too small for Prussia and Austria. "austria will remain the only state to whom we can permanently lose or from whom we can permanently gain."
  • Otto von Bismark

    Bismark avoided hurting Austria too severely so that they would not feel the need for revenge. They would also have to become allies with other countries.

    The war of 1866 occured. Germany won.

    King wilhelm became emperor and in his proclamation he said that he needed to protect the rights of the empire and the people in it.
