Gregor mendel was born into an ethnic german family by Anton and Rosine mendel. -
Studied philosophy
From 1840 to 1843, he studied practical and theoretical philosophy and physics at the University of Olomouc Faculty of Philosophy, and he took off a year because he got sick. -
Trained as a priest
In 1843 Mendel began his training as a priest. His physics teacher Friedrich Franz, recommended he entered the Augustinian Abbey of St Thomas in Brno. -
Went to university of vienna
In 1851 he was sent to the University of Vienna to study under the sponsorship of Abbot C. F. Napp. At the university, his professor of physics was Christian Doppler. -
Returned as a teacher
Mendel returned to his abbey in 1853 as a teacher of physics. -
Studied and expirimented with plants
Mendel was inspired by his professors at the University of Olomouc and his colleagues at the monastery to study variaty in plants, and he studied in the monastery's two experimental garden. He started learning about traits with pea plants in 1856 and 1863. -
Found 'Austrian Meteorological Society'.
In 1865 studied astronomy and meteorology and found the 'Austrian Meteorological Society'. -
Replaced napp
In1867, he had replaced Napp as abbot of the monastery. -
Mendel's ideas
Mendel's ideas were rejected in 1868 but then rediscovered in the early twentieth century, and in the 1930s and 1940s. -
Gregor mendel dies
When Gregor mendel was 61, he died on January 6, 1884.
