Early Life
When Ford was a kid, his father gave him a pocket watch. When he recived it, he took the watch apart, and put it back together again. This is first when his natural talent to build things was noticed. -
Became Apprentice Machinist
Ford left home to become a apprentice machinist in Detroit. He worked at James F. Flower & Bros. He then worked for Detroit Dry Dock. He went back to Dearborn and worked on the Westinghouse portable steam engine, and was later hired by Westinghouse to service steam engines. -
The Creation and failure of the Detroit Automobile Company
In 1899, Ford funded his own car company, the Detroit Automobile Company. Its first vehicle was a truck, It was very slow, very unreliable, and was complicated to create. Later, when For left, it became the Cadillac Company, after Ford left to create the automobile company Ford. -
Model T
Henry Ford re-imagined the car. The Model T had a steering wheel on the left side of the car. The engine was enclosed, and had suspension. Every car company after this would soon adapt these features to thier cars, eventuslly making the cars we have today. The first Model T sold for $825, which was so cheap nearly all Americans could afford one. The price kept on declining for the Model T, as it was a huge success. -
The Assembly Line is Created
To increase production rates, Ford created the assembly line. This is where each person in the assembly line has one job to do, such as screw on a bolt. The person doeas nothing else but thier specific job.The parts move down the line, being built along the way, to create the final product. This was a much faster and more efficient way to create cars, which boosted Ford's sales tremendously -
The Model A is Introduced
In 1926, because the Model T had sold so well, Ford decided to create a newer model- The Model A. This model featured improvements over the previous Model T, such as the design of the chassis and engine were changed, aswell as the Model A's body design. -
Henry Ford Dies
Ford dies in 1947, at age 83. -
Relevance
Ford is still relevant today because of his leading company, Ford, is still around today. They create trucks and cars for the world to enjoy, and are still creating high quality products.
