    Henry Ford was born on July 30th 1863 in Greenfield township near Dearborn Michigan. His father was William Ford and his mother was Mary Ford. Henry will become one of the leading industralist in the United States. In his later years, he will create one of the most well known manufacturing techniques, the asembly line which is still recognized to this day as one of the most efficient processes for building products (World Books Biographical Encyclopedia of scientist 93).

    At the age of twenty five, Henry Ford married his one and only wife, Marie Clara Jane Bryant. Marie Clara Jane Bryant married Henry Ford on her 22nd birthday.     Henry Ford had a workshop in Michigan and on June 4,1896, he invented the quadrcycle also called "the horseless carriage". This was the first vehicle that Henry had made which represented the beginning of his manufacturing future. The quadrcycle was made out of wood and had a four cylinder engine that could allow travel up to five miles an hour.     Henry decided that he would enter one of his cars in a ten mile race to prove his car was faster than the rest of the cars. Ford wins the race making him well known within the automotive industry. After the race was over, Henry decided that he was going to build a new, better and more powerful race car that he hoped to set a new speed record. His new race car traveled 5 miles in 5 minutes and 28 seconds which set a new speed record (Ford Company Timeline).

    Henry Fords most signficant contribution in automotive history was the creation of the Ford Motor Company. Many new inventions came out of the Ford Motor Company and the products it manufactured. His company name can still be seen traveling on the roads to this day (Ford Company Timeline).

    The Ford Motor Company created the "Model T", at the time the Model T was considered the most afforable car in america. Ford produced more than 15 million Model T's, built from 1908 to 1927 with a starting price of $850 in 1908. Every year the car cost a little less with a price in 1927 $350 less than in 1908. The first cars came in different styles and a variety of colors,then Ford stopped offering options and mass produced the cars only in black from the years 1913 to 1925 (Worlld books 94).

    The United States underwent a stock market crash in the year of 1924.This led to many businesses filing for bankruptcy and massive unemployment. The market crash was due to everyone selling their stock at the same time. Many people borrowed money to invest in the stock market and when stock prices fell people lost all their money and couldn't pay off the loans used to buy the stock. After the crash, many people stopped spending causing many businesses to close laying off their employes(Beck739).

    This day marked the last model T produced ever on the assembly line. It was the fifteenth million model T.     Ford wanted to manufacture cars in the Soviet Union. During May of 1929 Henry signed the agreement with the Soviet Union to begin producing cars there. Finally,after a long two years of arguing it finally passed(Ford signs agreement with Soviet Union).
