  • Typewriter

    Typewriter
    Typewriters were invented in 1868 by Christopher Latham Sholes. Before computers, many businesses used typewriters to write documents. A typewriter is a mechanical or electronic machine that is used to print characters on a piece of paper by typing on individual keys. For mechanical typewriters, each key has a lever at the end. By pressing the key down, the lever raises which presses the letter against a ribbon with ink. This then presses against the paper and the letter shows up.
  • Telephone

    Telephone
    The telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876. This was the first patented telephone, yet he did not come up with the idea. Antonio Meucci was an Italian immigrant that began designing the first telephone in 1894. A Telephone is a machine that converts acoustic vibration to electric signals for carrying sound. When it was first invented calls remained to local regions in United states. Throughout the years phones have improved a lot from how to dial to distance you can call.

    Television
    Electronic televisions were first displayed in San Francisco September 7 1927. It was invented by 21 year old American, Philo Taylor Farnsworth, who didn't have electricity in his house until he was 14. Up until the 1950s all TV’s were black and white, the inventor of the colour television was Mexican Guillermo González Camarena. TV’s are very common now and almost all families have one or more in their house.
  • Cell Phone

    Cell Phone
    April 3 1973, American engineer, Martin Cooper invented the first wireless, handheld, cellular phone. This was called the Motorola DynaTAC, and was fairly big compared to cell phones now. The Motorola DynaTAC was just used for calling and it wasn’t until 1992 that the first smartphone (touchscreen) called the Simon Personal Communicator created by IBM (a computer hardware software). This phone still only called people and later that year texing was invented.
  • Walkman

    The Walkman TPS-L2 was the first low-cost portable stereo created by Nobutoshi Kihara in Japan in 1979. It costed $150 and wasn’t for sale in America until 1980. Walkmans were used for listening to music and since has been replaced by phones, mp3 players, etc.
  • Laptop

    Laptop
    The first laptop was invented by Adam Osborne in 1981, called the “Osborne 1” This computer was around 24 pounds and had a tiny screen built into it and it costed $1795. Laptops have come so far since then with size, storage, functions, weight and many more factors.
  • World Wide Web

    World Wide Web
    On August 6 1991, the World Wide Web, created by Tim Berners-Lee became publicly available. This was great news for many people, instead of going to the library you could just look something up on your computer which saved a lot of time and effort. The internet connected through the phone and was only available to people close to towers. Computers have decreased in size so much throughout history.
  • Fingerprint Scanning

    Fingerprint Scanning
    The first phone to have fingerprint scanner was a Motorola in 2011, followed by Android and then in 2013 Apple released Touch ID for the iPhone 5s. But what is fingerprint scanning? Everyone has different fingerprints which cannot be removed or changed. Fingerprint scanning is used for security systems by scanning and saving someone's unique fingerprint, but its not just used for phones. It is used in police stations, phones and even in computers. Apple’s fingerprint scanning is called Touch ID.
  • Apple Watch

    Apple Watch
    Apple Watch is a line of smartwatches, much like smartphones created in 2015 by Apple. The Apple Watch has 8 gigabytes of storage and can do many things similar to iPhone's (also created by Apple) like tracking fitness, access social media, receive and send text messages and calls and many more. Right now they are up to the second generation of Apple Watch and generation three is coming out around September of this year (2017).
  • Virtual Reality

    Virtual Reality
    Virtual reality is a computer generated machine that shows a 3D imagine or environment surrounding the person wearing it. An example of virtual reality is Oculus Rift founded by Palmer Luckey in 2015. This is a headset that is embedded with sensors that monitor head movement and adjust the image accordingly. This allows you to play games and through the goggles, see the “world” in the game. Spring of 2015, Mark Zuckerberg, bought the Oculus Rift from Luckey for $2 billion.
