German Invasion of Poland
During this day, 1.5 million Germans attacked Poland. They attacked through air and through sea. Hitler said this was a defensive action, yet Britain and France did not agree. Hitler did this to gain more territory for Germans to be able to live in. -

Britain and France declare war on Germany
The Polish decide to ask Germany to live them alone, yet Hitler decides to ignore what they have asked them. Garmany´s U-bouts sunk a British boat. Greate Briain and France declare wat on Germany. -

On this day, Germany and France sign an armistice that says that Germany can ocupy the northern and western part of France. -

For the first time, the US beging to reclute people for their military. It is the first draft during the time of peace in US. -

Adolf Hitler was pressuring Yugoslavia a lot, that is when Yugoslavia decided to join the Axis Powers. -
Operation Barbarossa
On this day, Germany indade the USSR and that is how the broke the nonagression pact they had signed 2 years before in 1939. This invasion is also know as "Operation Barbarossa". On June 24, 1941, Roosvelt tells USSR that US wil help them. -
US cuts oil to Japan
During this month, President Roosevelt cut off oil shipments to Japan because he wanted their economy to lose strength since the americans had cracked one of the Japanese codes. US considered Japan as a threat is they were capable of conquering European colonies so they wanted to prevent this. -
Pearl Harbor Attack
On this day, 360 Japanese ariplanes attacked the Pearl Harbor, located in Hawaii, which was an American military base. Over 2300 US soldiers were killed and around 1100 were wounded. This established the begining of the war in the Pacific Front. -
Wannsee Conference / The Final Solution
In the Wannsee Conference, the SS and the German government met to see how they were going to take care of the Final Solution. The Final Solution consists in erradication of the Jews. -
B-25 Bombings
On this month, 16 B-25 planes, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel James H. Doolittle bomber Tokyo and some other Japanese cities however they did very little damage. -
Battle of MIdway
On this day, the Battle of Miday began. The war lasted 4 days, ending on June 7, 1942. This battle is one of the most important battles in WWII since it destroyed Japan´s Navy. It was USA´s revenge after Japan had attacked them in Pearl Harbor. -
Battle of Guadalcanal
On this day the Battle of Guadalcanal begun. It lasted 6 months, ending in Februaru 1943. This Battle consisted on US attacking Japan who had a huge air base in those islands. D-Day

After 1 month of war the Allies won and advanced into Paris, France. -

In this photo we can see a Japanese soldier surrendering to the US forces. On this day, the Americans moved into Okinawa to attack the Japanese. On June 21, the battle ended. It was a very bloody battle and the Japanese lost. -
Germany Surrenders
On this day, Hitler and Germany finally surrender to General Eisenhower at Rheims, France and to the Soviets. President Truman and the Allies celebrate the V-E Day (Victory in Europe Day). -
Atomic Bomb at Hiroshima
On this day, the B-29 plane from the US dropped the Enola Gay bomb at Hiroshima, Japan. This plane was flown by Colonel Paul W. Tibbets. At exactly 8:16 am this bomb exploded, instantly killing over 70,000 inocent people. -
Nagasaki Bombing
3 days later, the US dropped the "fat man" bomb at Nagasaki Japan. At exactly 11:02 am this bomb exploded, once again, instantly killing over 70,000 inocent people. -
Japan Surrenders
On this day, Japan surrenders to General Douglas McArthur. For this event, a ceremony took place. This ceremony was on the US battleship Missouri in the Toky Bay. Now WWII has finally ended.
