    Horace Mann
    In 1837 the first State Board of Education was created in Massachusetts. Horace Mann was the secretary of education; he was the leader of change. He made it so that education can be free to children. This point in history I believe is very important because during this time the board created school systems of the state which were free to children. This opened the door for children to have a brighter future and society to be well educated.
  • Compulsory Attendance Act

    Compulsory Attendance Act
    This acts mission was to gradually improve the conditions of children advancement in life. It has helped and still helps easy children in to being a member of the working class society. It set regulations of how much children could work and made it manditory that children go to school 3 months out of the year.
  • National Education Association

    National Education Association
    The National Education Association, appointed a committee of ten people to establish a standard high school curriculum. This is an important date because this point in history meant that our society wanted to have a standard for all children planning on attending college which was a gate way to how education is held in high standard today. Educating the young is key to a better and higher society.
  • Brown Vs. Board of Education

    Brown Vs. Board of Education
    The ruling determined that race should not be takin in consideration in education. This ruling allowed society as a whole to prosper and grow giving all children a greater academic outcome. Mixed classrooms helped create equality of education for all children. Mixed classrooms give African Americans a new since of equality in the community, another milestone that was overcome for the African American people to be equal to whites.
  • Internet Emergence

    Internet Emergence
    During the late 1980's early 1990's the Internet Emerged. This is when technology emerged with education. This is an important date in history because of how it creates an unlimited amount of education at your fingertips. The Internet made education easy of all people who are willing to learn. We so the internet so frequently in our everyday lives that, when we don’t have this access we feel lost. The internet is now an essential tool in schools everywhere.
