    PL: 94-142;IDEA
The PL:94-142:IDEA Acts are all very important to me. I feel that all children should have the right to the same education. The economic status of your family, your health and your process of learning should not be a factor for your education. I strongly believe that all students should be in the same classroom and learning together. I also believe that one of the best ways to learn is through exposure and being involved. All children deserve the same education opportunities.
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    No Child Left Behind Act
The No Child Left Behind Act is a very important law. I feel that it provides a sense of belonging to students. When peers/friends move up a grade and they don't, they feel a sense of being inadequate. The NCLB Act will provide a level of equalness to all children.
  • Common Core

    Common Core
Common Core is important to me because it allows teachers across the United States to have the same curriculum. Thus, students and teachers will both benefit from this because the material is taught to students in the same way over the same period of time. This makes our standardized test even more fair for our students and teachers. Standardized test scores will reflect how teachers and students are successful and will be scored because of the same material and methods being taught.
  • Least Restricted Environment

    Least Restricted Environment
Children with special needs should be able to join their peers in the regular education setting. I feel strongly about this because I work in special education and it is so important for children to feel they are equal. They need to know that they have the same right to the same educations as their peers. It is so important for them to have the opportunities to thrive socially with their peers. Peers need to also know that it is just as important to be exposed to those who are different to.
  • Virtual Education

    Virtual Education
Virtual education provides students the opportunity to attend classes that other schools are offering. This is beneficial especially for smaller school districts to expand their college level coarses also. Since my children are growing up in a small district this will allow them to have more opportunities to take more classes and explore other outlets. I personally feel that virtual education will be able to open more windows for many of our future K-12 students, not just high school.
