  • Poll Tax Passed

    In 1889, a Poll Tax law was passed in the Southern United States. This meant that anyone who owned land or had money to pay the tax could vote for officials in the United States Government.
  • Literacy Test Require for Voting

    In order for you to vote it was required the be abole to pas a literacy test, considering that the marjority of African Americans couldn't read or write at the time, they were unable to vote.
  • Seperate Car Act (Act 111)

    This Was a Law Passed Requiring Railroad Companis to have "seperate, but equal" train cars for other races
  • Plessy v. Ferguson Case

    During the Plessy v. Ferguson case, Homer Plessy was arrested for sitting in the "White" train car, when he was supposed to be sitting in the "Colored" car. This case was brought to the Supreme Court of the United States and it was ruled that segregation was legal and not against the consitution.
  • Officer Slager Shoots Walter Scott in the back

    On April 7th, 2015, Walter Scott was at a police stop and was being question about his license. Since it was expired and he didn't have the money to pay the fine, he ran. During the case Officer Slager decided to pull his gun on Scott and shot him 8 times in the back.
