    The Virginia Slave Codes of 1705
    The law was devised to establish a greater level of control over the rising African slave population of Virginia. It also separates the white colonists from the black slaves in society, makes them separate groups, and hinders their ability to unite.
  • Stono Rebellion

    This was the largest slave uprising in the British colony. 25 colonists and 35 to 50 Africans were killed. The rebellion recruited nearly 60 slaves, killed more than 20 whites, and was finally defeated by the South Carolina militia

  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a confrontation on March 5, 1770, in which British soldiers shot and killed several people while being harassed by a mob in Boston. Amid tense relations between the civilians and the soldiers, a mob formed around a British sentry and verbally abused him. Eventually, one soldier fired, prompting the others to fire without an order by Preston. The gunfire instantly killed three people and wounded eight others, two of whom later died of their wounds.
