The governor of CA(California) invited Edison to develop photo studies of animals in motion. Thhe resulting series that they did of the a horse tripping on wire could be projected as something resembling a motion picture. -

The mutoscope was a much earlier motion picture device or machine, that was invented by Wincor McCay and later presented by Herman Casler in the year 1894.This invention went on the screen and Edisons device didnt not go on the screen. His device ws more of pics. -
Cinematographe
In the year 1895 the Lumieres(brothers) invented there own device called the Cinematographe. This invention was smaller than Edison's invention. This device was hand cranked and they used flim speed of 16 frames per sec. -
Royal Photographic
Birt Acres shoes off his flims to the Royal Photographic of Society. These films also included films like the famous "Rough Sea" at Dover and soon flims were showed on a regular basis. -
Edison's Greatest Marvel
On the year 1896 in New York City, Edison had made the Vitascope, and it was called "Edison's Greatest Marvel", and people came to view this new projector as a audience. The audience was the first to see the motion picture in the United States. This projector included 3D spiecal effects, newer and better thing that no one has ever seen. This device was not created by Edison it was a adaptation from a machine called the phantoscope that was created by Francis C. Jenkins. -

In 1903 the flim "The Great Train Robbery was a famous scrpt created by Edwin S.Porter. This displayed effective use of editing and photography technique. Another movie was created with this movie also it was called, "The life of an American Fireman". -
Nickelodeon
On the year 1905, 450 people came to see the grand opening day of Nickeloodeon, that happened to be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and this was created by Harry Davis. The reason this was called Nicklelodeon was because, the storefront theater charged each person five cents. By the year 1907, more over 2 million Amercians had visited a nicklelodeon, and the storefronts were replaced arounf 1910 by large modern theaters. -

In 1905 Georges Melies make and presents his magnificent movie "Voyage to the Moon" the movie lasted about 15 min, this movie was a billilant fantasy parody, the writings of Jules Verne and HG Wells. This flim was using innovative special affects anf techniques and colouring. -
