    Lewis Hines
    Lewis Hines was a photographer that believed a photograph was very powerful. During the early 1900s child labor was a big thing. After a while people got sick of seeing children forcd to work and not able to recieve and education. Lewis Hines felt the same way. He quite his job as a teacher and traveled the country taking photographs of childeren in factories and coal mines. Which did succeed in banning chil labor laws and setting maximum hours. By the 20s child labor laws went down by 50%.

    In 1911 photography was not only an art but also used as evidence. Photographs of fingerprints were used in 1911 to solve cases. Some people even used photography to get away with things and be found not guilty. Such as changing a crime scene and taking a photo of it to show what they want people to think what happend.

    Frank Gilberth used photography as a science to see how long it takes for a person do something. He would put lights on doctors fingers and noticed that they wasted a lot of time looking for their tools. That is one of the reasons why today that they have a nurse right beside them handing them their tools that they need whenever they're doing a surgery.

    In 1913, photography was used to make people become famous. Celebrities such as Valentino and Babe Ruth became famous for their own reasons, like for a sport or being an actor. But other people less important such as gangsters, scientists, and preachers could become famous as long as they looked good in pictures.

    Oskar Barnack
    Oskar Barnack helped created precision miniature. Barnack was a master mechanic and inventor. The Lecia ( camera he created) was used in the postwar that was going on and had 35-millimetre and other small cameras. He also helped create the Leitz Elmar lens.

    Paul Strand was a photography in the 1900s who created the straight photography movement. He created images that showed true reality, without editing it or changing it in any way. He thought that editing or modified the picture after it was produced took away the value of the photograph
