In 1492 Columbus arrived in the Caribean after a 33 day voyage across the atlantic. He was funded by the newly formed Kingdom of Castile Leon and Aragon. Columbus approached the Portuguese king first, but was turned down. This was because he disagreed with the kings experts on the size of the Earth. The Spanish experts agreed with the Portuguese experts but Columbus managed to convince the king and queen to fund an expidition. -
