    In the year 1895 Marconi was the first to reveive and send a radio signal. At the time the radio signal was not a message or a song it was taps like morse code. This was a big break through because this proved that we would have a radio signal without wires which was perfect for ships and airplanes of today.

    Uncle charlies were a big thing cause this means that alot of people can have there own radio station in there home. This was good and bad good is that alot of people could be in the radio industry but the bad part was that everyone had so radio advertisment was hard because of the same radio frequency. What they did was that you have to ask the fca at the time and each person gets a different frequency in a certain area of eachother.

    The audion is a tube to amplify signals like a guitar amp, amplifying sound. The invention was borrowed by Lee de forest but it was beleived that a canadian inventor, Reginald Fessenden but he did not get the credit for it. The affect of this is that our radios only provide 100 watts of power and imagine the subwoofer system in cars thank to amps it supported more wattage to power it.

    Music was good a lot of people like music right but how would we enjoy it? We'll we just can't whip out our phones and go to iTunes or pandora we would have to go to a diner or a restaurants to listen to a juke box or a home record. And that was inconvenient so music aired on radios which saved them from dying out.

    One of the first big radio station was 8xk in the 1920's that radio station was a talk show on the radio. Frank Conrad was the broadcaster of the kdka show and still broadcasting today. The reason they still to call there station kdka is that they were grandfathered in if the station started with a k it means there on the west of the missippi river but they were grandfathered in and they got to keep there name.

    The radio company wasn't making money of music or talking so how did they? Well they would do advertisment like and the first aired in November 2 1920 and it was ten minutes. How do they make money well the advertisment would pay for each time they air so that's how they make there money.

The government established the FRC "federal radio commission" and what there job was, to limit the radio stations in a certain area with the certain frequency. So what you had to do is to go to the FRC to ask permission to get the certain frequency fm or am so you won't enterfere with other radio stations.

    During the 1930's the Great Depression was in affect and all people did was listen to the radio reason being? Reason is that the radio will let them forget what was going on with war or stress with poverty and let them relax. Radio was really important because this was the peoples news and updates of the civil war

    TV was making its way and radio was doomed. Reason is they want to make the switch but what if shows were played by adult but was a kid. The show would be totally different. While TV was making it's money radio lost a lot.

Reason being is that you could send the signals anywhere without distruption of weather. This affected with music and communications like music could be streamed to literally any where

    What was the difference and why was one which and which? We'll am was 533KHz-1605KHz and that's the frequency wave. On the other side Fm frequency waves were 88MHz-108MHz and that means the waves were closer.

    The reason for am and fm to be differed cause of the wave length and as we know fm frequancy's are more close and compacted and bigger wave which gave a more clear sound in music. Am was more spaced out and it was ideal for talk and less on music. Reasoning for that is cause music has a bigger affect on the sound with the high's, mid's, and low's and that's why fm is more based on music.

    After years of am. Fm got it's toll and progressed in sound quality as we know it. Edwin Armstrong invented the fm transmitter and it made a stronger signal. What this did was made music and sound more clear and this was a big progression
